Each year, International Women’s Day invites us to pause and reflect on the achievements, strength and contributions of women across the world. The 2026 theme, “Give To Gain,” feels particularly aligned with who we are at The Therapy Network (TTN) and how we show up in our work every day.
As a paediatric occupational therapy practice, giving is woven into everything we do. But what we are reminded of — and what this year’s theme captures so beautifully — is that giving is never one-sided. In meaningful, values-driven work, giving and gaining exist together.
Giving Time, Gaining Trust
In paediatric occupational therapy, progress begins with connection.
When we give our time — unhurried, present and attentive — we build the foundation of trust. Families entrust us with their children’s development, challenges and goals. That trust is earned through consistency, transparency and care.
At TTN, we believe that strong therapeutic relationships are the cornerstone of meaningful outcomes. When we give our presence and expertise, we gain deeper understanding, shared purpose and genuine partnership with families.
Giving Knowledge, Gaining Growth
Occupational therapy is collaborative by nature. Within our team, we actively share insights, problem-solve together and learn from one another’s experiences.
When we give:
- Supervision and mentorship
- Clinical knowledge and resources
- Honest reflection and feedback
We gain:
- Professional growth
- Confidence in our practice
- Innovation in how we support children
- A stronger, more connected team
We know that when one therapist grows, our whole practice grows. Supporting placements, welcoming new team members and investing in professional development are not just operational decisions — they are reflections of our values.
Giving Compassion, Gaining Perspective
Compassion sits at the heart of occupational therapy. Many of the families we support are navigating complex systems, diagnoses and uncertainty. When we give compassion, we create safety — for children to try, for parents to ask questions, for families to feel understood.
In return, we gain perspective. We witness resilience, advocacy and extraordinary determination. These experiences shape us as clinicians and as people.
Giving to Ourselves, Gaining Sustainability
As women, professionals and often carers in our own lives, giving can feel constant. International Women’s Day also reminds us that sustainable giving requires self-care and boundaries.
At TTN, supporting our team’s wellbeing is essential. When we give ourselves permission to rest, reflect and seek support, we gain longevity in our careers and clarity in our work.
Sustainable therapists create sustainable outcomes.
What “Give To Gain” Means for TTN
For us, this theme reflects our commitment to:
- Building strong, trusting relationships with families
- Championing collaboration and shared learning
- Supporting staff growth and development
- Valuing the women who shape our team and our community
- Creating an environment where generosity strengthens everyone
International Women’s Day is both a celebration and a call to continue fostering equity, opportunity and respect — within our workplace and in the broader community.
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women of The Therapy Network, the mothers and carers we walk alongside, and the girls we support to grow in confidence and capability.
